Launched as a professional dance company in 1997, Carolina Ballet has since garnered critical praise from the national and international media. Under the direction of Robert Weiss, Carolina Ballet has staged over 100 world premiere ballets and toured internationally in China and Hungary. Weiss, former Artistic Director of the Pennsylvania Ballet and principal dancer at New York City Ballet under the legendary George Balanchine, programs traditional ballets by legendary masters and new works by contemporary choreographers.
North Carolina Theatre
Created in 1984, the North Carolina Theatre is the home of inspired and irresistible performances of touring Broadway shows and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. Utilizing the best national, regional, and local talent in conjunction with their youth training and outreach programs, North Carolina Theatre fortifies the cultural vitality of the region by offering broad access to live theatre.
North Carolina Symphony
Founded in 1932, the North Carolina Symphony is a vital and honored component of North Carolina’s cultural life. As the first state-supported symphony in the country, the Symphony’s 66 full-time professional musicians are greeted with enthusiasm by adults and schoolchildren in more than 90 North Carolina counties—in communities large and small, and in concert halls, auditoriums, gymnasiums, restaurants, clubs, and outdoor settings.
North Carolina Opera
Formed in 2010, The North Carolina Opera emerged from the merger of The Opera Company of North Carolina and Capitol Opera Raleigh. It is dedicated to presenting operatic performances at the highest level throughout the Triangle. North Carolina Opera brings international level artists to Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, while also engaging the best in local Triangle talent. In their first eight seasons, they have presented a wide range of repertoire, from Handel and Mozart to John Supko, D.J. Sparr, and Philip Glass.
Dedicated to preserving, presenting, and promoting traditional music, dance, and other folk performing arts, PineCone is considered the largest and most active traditional music organization in North Carolina. Formed in 1984, they have accrued the reputation for presenting the very best in all the varied forms that make up traditional music and present more than 125-180 concerts and events each year.
Producing work with an expansive artistic scope, Theatre Raleigh aims to bring musical theatre, drama, comedy, concerts, theatre for young audiences, as well as the development of new theatrical projects to the community. By having a strong group of producers, who each have an extensive background in the arts, the group is able to share an array of shows with audiences by combining some of the best talent from both North Carolina and New York.
